自今年8月5日起，詹姆斯有资格和湖人签下一份2年最高9710万美元的合同。

Stein表示：“当然，对于詹姆斯和湖人来说，问题在于，以上述薪资提前续约延长双方合作时间，将使得改善阵容的途径变得有限，尽管湖人上赛季仅排名西部第11位。早期的估算数字显示，在詹姆斯和安东尼-戴维斯都已经续约的情况下，预计湖人明年夏天的薪金空间将近2000万美元。换言之，这样的薪金空间不足以去报价顶级球员。”
